Movie Review: The Master

the-master-poster1I enjoyed the performances and direction. It had a similar structure to that of There Will Be Blood. I like a traditional three act structure myself but I can appreciate P. T. Anderson's style. He is a master of storytelling and I always enjoy his work. What I took away from this film is that Phillip Seymour Hoffman's character was in the end jealous of Joaquin Phoenix's character, wishing that he could live a more simple life and not be burdened with the gifts he had convinced himself and his followers that he had. Happiness alludes him, if only he could be free... Free to masturbate into the sea.
